THINK ALL INSULATIONS ARE CREATED EQUAL?
Well, here are a few questions that may cause you to want to find out some important differences: WHY INSULATE? (insert pix here)
With 50% of your home energy dollars going to heating and cooling, the investments that will yield the greatest energy savings are those that will reduse the use of your heating and cooling systems. Therefore, insulation is the most important energy-saving investment you can make.

INSULATION
WHY CELLULOSE?
R-Value (Thermal Resistance)

R-Value is a measurement of a product's ability to retard heat movement. This is determined by thickness, density and weight. When the R-Value is higher, the material will resist more heat.

A.Q. Cellulose Fiber (blown) 3.5
Rock Wool (blown) 2.9
Fiberglass (blown) 2.2

Effective insulation is a combination of certain materials and pockets of air that resists the passage of heat and cold. Man-made mineral fibers are in fact conductors and can only trap heat and cold between their fibers. Cellulose insulation, however, being a hollow fiber itself, traps heat and cold not only between the fibers but also within its fibers giving it superior R-Value.

(Airflow through an insulation)

Because of this cellular composition, density and method of application, cellulose insulation has proven to be highly effective in reducing the flow of air through the insulation mass and even beats man-made mineral fiber insulation in air infiltration testing. (finish this page)

NEW CONSTRUCTION/REINSULATION

Cellulose insulation, because of its ease of application and superior energy savings ability, makes it  particularly attractive for use in atttics and sidewalls in new contruction and is highly reccomended for reinsulationg over fiberglass and minerla or rock wool.

Read this before you buy:

What you should know about R-values

The bag shows the R-value of the insulation. R means resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power. Compat\re insualtion R-values before you buy.

There are other factors to consider. The amount of  insulation you need depends mainly upon the climate you live in. Also, your fule savings from insulation will depend upon the climate, the type and size of your home, the amount of insulation already in your house, and your fuel usage patterns and family size.

Savings vary. Find out why in the seller's fact sheet on R-values.

High R-values mean greater insulating power.
